DESCRIPTION:Come join Assemblymember Jon Rivera for a free screening of The Wizard of Oz at the Palace Theatre! This classic movie is fun for kids of all ages—and parents too! While the movie will begin at noon\, the Buffalo Zoo’s Zoomobile\, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library’s Library2GO van\, and representatives from the Buffalo Museum of Science will be on-site starting at 9:00 AM. \nThe Zoomobile will have fun animal artifacts including pelts\, skulls\, horns\, and other animal adaptation tools. The Buffalo Museum of Science will have activities to teach the real-life magical science of tornadoes\, rainbows\, and bubbles. The Library2GO van will be on-site for guests to check out books or sign up for a library card. The Zoomobile and Library2GO van will be parked at the Village Community Market across the street from the Palace Theatre\, and the Science Museum will be at a table in front of the Theatre. \nTickets are limited (5 maximum per registrant) and guests must register in advance. Our Virtual 5K race is a great and fun way to train for other events or just get some exercise. So\, whether you run on a treadmill\, jog around the neighborhood\, or walk around the block\, the Run for Rhinos is an ideal way to get in shape while supporting the Buffalo Zoo! Back this year: an in-person race for the first 200 registrants that includes a race through Delaware Park and ends in the Buffalo Zoo. Your race registration includes a ticket to the Zoo on September 17. \nThis year\, we are raising funds for the Sumatran Rhino Rescue and the Buffalo Zoo. The Sumatran Rhino Rescue is a groundbreaking approach to conservation that brings together the Government of Indonesia\, leading international conservation organizations\, local experts and conservation practitioners\, and supporters from around the world to save the Sumatran Rhino from extinction. \nAll registrants (virtual and in-person) will receive a race t-shirt and finisher medal that can either be picked up or mailed. Simply select “Children – 24 Months and Under” for each child who meets the age requirement. \nBuffalo Zoo Members receive a special member discount. Please bring your valid Buffalo Zoo membership card and identification to the event. A $5.00 per ticket fee is charged for Members who cannot provide a valid Buffalo Zoo membership card and identification. \nMember level tickets are non-transferable. The Member’s name must be on all tickets purchased\, and the Member must be present with a valid Buffalo Zoo membership card and identification at entry. \nValid\, non-expired guest passes and ride tickets may be redeemed at Zoo Lights at the Buffalo Zoo doe member pricing. \nZoo Lights at the Buffalo Zoo does not feature the animal collection at the Zoo. \nThis event is held rain or shine. Dates and times are subject to change or cancellation without notice. In the event of severe weather\, Zoo Lights may be cancelled.
