DESCRIPTION:Description: \nCelebrate the second annual Run for Rhinos with the Buffalo Zoo from the comfort of your home\, on a local outdoor trail or road or in person on September 18. Our Virtual 5K race is a great and a fun way to train for other events or to just get some exercise. So\, whether you run on a treadmill\, jog around the neighborhood or walk around the block\, the Run for Rhinos is an ideal way to get in shape while supporting the Buffalo Zoo! Gather your family\, friends\, colleagues and neighbors to create a team – near and far can participate! New this year: an in-person race for the first 200 registrants that includes a race through Delaware Park and ends in the Buffalo Zoo. Your race registration includes a ticket to the Zoo on September 18. \nThis year\, we are raising funds for the Sumatran Rhino Rescue and the Buffalo Zoo Emergency Response Fund. Your participation will support the Buffalo Zoo during the ongoing pandemic. The Sumatran Rhino Rescue is a groundbreaking approach to conservation that brings together the Government of Indonesia\, leading international conservation organizations\, local experts and conservation practitioners\, and supporters from around the world to save the Sumatran Rhino from extinction. \nPlease note: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic\, the race status will continually be evaluated. Any changes to race status will be communicated via this page and via email to registrants of the in-person race. We reserve the right to cancel the in-person event and shift to a virtual format. \nFollowing the Buffalo Zoo’s health and safety measures\, we kindly request that all in-person participants wear a face mask/covering while indoors on Zoo property. \nIf you are not feeling well on race day\, we ask that you do not attend. \nAll registrants (virtual and in-person) will receive a race t-shirt and finisher medal that can either be picked up or mailed. \nShare your photos on social media using the hashtag #RunForRhinos and tag the Buffalo Zoo! \nThe Run for Rhinos is brought to you by the Buffalo Zoo and the ProZoo Board of the Buffalo Zoo. \nPacket pickup information is available below. \nIf you do not want to physically pick up your packet\, please select the race packet shipping option at check-out to ensure you receive your t-shirt and medal. All shipments will be mailed starting the week of October 4.  \n  \nIn-Person 5K Run/Walk \nDate: September 18. 2021 \nTime: 8:30am-10:30am \nPrice: $40 \nRegistration Deadline: September 10\, 2021 \n  \nVirtual 5K Run/Walk \nDate: Now through October 1\, 2021 \nPrice: $25 \n  \nREGISTER\n  \nRace Packet Pickup: \n\nRace packets will be available for pickup during the following times (note: you do not need to pick-up your packet before race day for the in person race): \nSeptember 17\, 12:30-2pm @ The Buffalo Zoo parking lot (near the parking payment machine and front gate) \nSeptember 18 7:45-8:30am (race day) @ Zoofari Courtyard. The Zoo will be closed at this time. Please reach Zoofari Courtyard by following the Ring Road to the race start line. \nSeptember 24 12:30-2pm @ The Buffalo Zoo parking lot (near the parking payment machine and front gate) \nOctober 1\, 12:30-2pm @ The Buffalo Zoo parking lot (near the parking payment machine and front gate) \nRace packet shipping is also available as an add-on item. If you would like your packet shipped to you\, please ensure you select the Race Packet Shipping option to receive your packet. \nPLEASE NOTE: For all Buffalo Zoo Parking Lot pickups\, the parking lot can be accessed for free up to 15 minutes for pickup. You do not need to have a reservation to the Zoo to gain entry. Any time above 15 minutes is subject to additional charges. If there is inclement weather\, we will cancel packet pickup for the day and reschedule to a new date and time. An email will be provided with the update. For race day parking\, the Buffalo Zoo parking lot will be open and available. Please note the cost per hour for paid parking. Street parking is available around the Zoo (please note the Ring Road is closed to cars/parking).
