Distribution and Habitat

Geographic Range

Throughout much of South America, primarily along the Amazon River Basin.

Natural Habitat

Humid woodland forests as well as occasionally in open savannas.

Physical Characteristics

  • Ranging between 4–6 ft in length, the Brazilian rainbow boa can vary quite greatly in color and markings, but universally contains three parallel black stripes atop their head as well as rings that run down the length of their back.
