Donations Keep Us From Extinction

There are several ways to donate to the Buffalo Zoo, and each is as valuable as the next.

Donations and contributions are what not only keep the Zoo vibrant, but allows the Zoo to constantly grow, improve and add exciting new experiences for our visitors.

Capital Needs at the Buffalo Zoo

Thanks to the generosity of our government partners, local foundations, corporations, and literally thousands of individuals, the Buffalo Zoo has made an incredible transition over the last dozen or so years. Improved naturalistic exhibits for our animals and convenient, comfortable visitor amenities are now a standard part of the Buffalo Zoo experience. Included in the listing of completed projects are:

You Can Help

Capital Support offers many opportunities for individuals, corporations, foundations, civic and service groups and government partners to support the Buffalo Zoo.

There are always new needs and new opportunities for support. All capital contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. They may take the form of cash or securities; or bequests or other types of planned or future gifts.

Donors of $1,000 or more will be permanently acknowledged on the Zoo’s Honor Roll of Donors. Large pledges to the capital needs of the Zoo may be paid over multiple years.

Gifts may be made by cash, check, or credit card. You may charge online using a Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card or American Express. Make your gift by phone by calling (716)995-6131.

Checks payable to Buffalo Zoo Campaign and mailed to Buffalo Zoo Campaign Office, 300 Parkside Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14214.

What's Next

The Buffalo Zoo’s next project will be a $2.5 million renovation of its historic Reptile House. Originally designed by renowned zoologist Marlin Perkins, it was considered the best Reptile House in the country when it first opened on June 21, 1942.

The Zoo plans to replace all of the animal enclosures within the gallery space with new state-of-the-art exhibits. Two new conservation pods will showcase the Buffalo Zoo’s ongoing work breeding endangered amphibians and reptiles. The plan also includes an expansive area for Komodo dragons, the largest lizard in the world!
