Buffalo Zoo Announces New Winter Operating Hours
Buffalo, N.Y. – Starting Monday, November 16, 2020, the Buffalo Zoo will be closed to the public every Monday through Thursday and open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The new operating hours are a seasonal change for the Zoo and will last until March 28, 2021.
Like many businesses and organizations grappling with the impacts of COVID-19, the Zoo has carefully scrutinized many of its operational practices, including pre-pandemic attendance patterns, which are very low during the weekday winter months.
The Buffalo Zoo will be open during the week over the winter holiday Monday, December 21 through Thursday, December 31, 2020, as well as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2021 (Monday, January 18, 2021) and Presidents Day 2021 (Monday, February 15, 2021). The Zoo is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
While the Zoo will be closed to guests Monday through Thursday, animal care teams and staff will continue their daily routines. On-site education programs are available for enrollment and will continue during the week as well. Additionally, Buffalo Zoo Members are reminded to use their unlimited visits and enjoy complimentary Members-only treats during the winter.
“What won’t change is our excellent team of animal care professionals will continue to be here every day providing world-class care,” said Norah Fletchall, President and CEO, Buffalo Zoo. Our educators will provide on-site and online programming, while our marketing, membership, and development teams will continue to engage our audiences and raise funds to keep the Zoo running.”
