1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Creatures of the Night

Explore the mysteries of life after dark and discover why so many animals like bats, fireflies, and owls prefer the nightlife.

Thursday, December 27th, 2018

Frosty Fun

Winter is no time to stay cooped up inside.  There’s too much fun to be had out in the snow! We’ll play some outside winter games and discover which of our Zoo friends has the most fun playing in the snow.

1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Heat is on!

Feel the heat as we take a jungle journey (with a desert detour) and explore life in warmer climates. We’ll investigate life for animals who like it hot – from the wet heat of the rainforest canopy to the dry dunes of the world’s deserts.

Friday, December 28th, 2018

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Lazy, sneaky, despicable – some think scavengers are the worst animals, but we know better.  Scavengers are true survivors! Spend the day with the scavengers at the Zoo and learn some incredible (and sometimes gross) survival strategies.

1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Amazing Adaptations

Experience the art of winter from the beautiful animals that dot the landscape, to the intricate snow crystals and icicles that form during these frigid months. After exploring all that our frozen landscape has to offer we will make art that celebrates these chilly days and also incorporates ice and snow in its making.

General Camp Information

Activities will include a combination of exhibit visits, animal information, games, songs, stories, and live animal contact.  Students will have the opportunity to interact with a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods from our Education Department animal collection.  This provides each camper with the experience and thrill of live animal contact under well-supervised conditions.
