Buffalo Zoo and TOPS Friendly Markets Team Up to Support Animal Enrichment
Supporting the Buffalo Zoo has never been easier! The Buffalo Zoo is proud to announce the return of “TOPS Shop for the Animals” in partnership with TOPS Friendly Markets, happening Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at select TOPS locations.
During this special event, shoppers can make a direct impact on the lives of the Zoo’s 800+ animal residents by purchasing extra items from the Zoo’s animal enrichment grocery wish list. Volunteers will be stationed at each participating TOPS location with the list in hand, ready to help guests choose the perfect item to donate.
After selecting a donation item, shoppers simply leave it with a Zoo volunteer in the store lobby. These generous gifts will be delivered to the Zoo and used as part of the animals ’daily enrichment routines—helping promote natural behaviors, encouraging physical activity, and keeping the animals mentally engaged.
Requested grocery items include whole grain, low-sugar cereals, various extracts and spices, plastic toys, durable plastic storage containers, and paper bags in both large and small sizes. These and other everyday items play a vital role in the Zoo’s enrichment program, helping to keep animals mentally stimulated and physically active.
