Elephantastic Weekend at the Buffalo Zoo
Buffalo, N.Y. – Join the celebration June 4-5, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. as the Buffalo Zoo and Wegmans, with media support from WGRZ-TV, 97 Rock and Classic Hits 104.1, team up to kick off the summer season in a “huge” way with Elephantastic Weekend!
Event highlights include Elephant Art With Surapa, enrichment activities and keeper talks. Other fun activities include participating in games and taking a chance at the raffles to win elephant art!
Activities (excluding raffles and the cracker feed) are FREE with Zoo admission.
The event schedule is as follows:
10:00 a.m. –
2:00 p.m. Distribution of free children’s books (while supplies last)
by Niagara Frontier Reading Council to promote literacy in the city of Buffalo
Saturday, June 4 ONLY
10:00 a.m. –
3:00 p.m. Games, prizes, activities and coloring (while supplies last)
10:00 a.m. –
4:00 p.m. Elephant House Open House

10:30 a.m. Elephant Keeper Talk (in front of elephant yard)
11:30 a.m. Elephant Art With Surapa
12:15 p.m. Animal enrichment in the elephant yard
12:30 p.m. –
1:30 p.m. Storytime (hosted by the Niagara Frontier Reading Council with guest appearances by local celebrity readers)
Saturday, June 4 ONLY
2:00 p.m. Cracker feed inside Elephant House
Feeding is $1 per cracker (while supplies last)
2:30 p.m. Elephant Keeper Talk (in front of elephant yard)
3:00 p.m. Elephant Art With Surapa
3:15 p.m. Winners of raffle drawing announced (You do not have to be present to win.)
