Program Description

Camp is wilder than ever at the Buffalo Zoo! Each camp day includes games, songs, crafts and close encounters with the animals. Make sure your camper doesn’t miss any of these exciting new camp experiences!

Monday, April 2: Rats!

This might seem like a strange theme but it’s a fun one!  Rodents are the most diverse group of mammals on the planet with over 2,000 species! We’ll explore this amazing group of animals from the smallest to the largest, and from the most common to the most unusual.

Tuesday, April 3: Animals Down Under

Every day right beneath our feet there are whole communities of animals that make their homes beneath the soil. In this workshop meet some of these amazing subterranean creatures and uncover the benefits of choosing a life underground.

Wednesday, April 4: Crafty Critters

As spring approaches, local animals prepare to expand their families by crafting nests, dens, and caches from natural materials. We’ll take inspiration from these critter creations and then craft some masterpieces of our own to celebrate the return of spring.

Thursday, April 5: The Lizard of Oz

Some of the world’s most intriguing animals are found in Australia. Discover the wonder and diversity of the animals who call the unique environments of Australia home.

Friday, April 6: Zoo Babies!

Animal parents are anything but average! Learn all about animal babies – from fluffy to furry to slimy – and the unique parenting methods of some of the Animal Kingdom’s most interesting parents

Activities will include a combination of exhibit visits, animal information, games, songs, stories, activities and live animal contact.  Students will have the opportunity to interact with a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods from our Education Department animal collection.  This provides each camper with the experience and thrill of live animal contact under well supervised conditions.
